What is the longest gas pipeline in the tracker?

NaTran Gas Pipeline Network, at 29,574 km, crossing France. That is GEM's own reported length.

Does this ranking include pipelines that are proposed or under construction?

Yes — length is a physical property of a route rather than a statement about capacity, so length rankings do not carry the same never-add-statuses-together rule that capacity does. Each pipeline's status is shown, and a route can be measured whether or not it is built yet.

Why do some lengths come from a mapped route rather than a reported figure?

Because Global Energy Monitor does not report a length for every pipeline. Where one is missing, the length is measured from the same route geometry drawn on the map, and the ranking states which basis applies to each entry.

Is a single "pipeline" in this ranking always one continuous route?

It is one project as GEM defines it, which can be a single continuous line or a national network filed under one name. The individual pipeline page for each entry shows its full route on the map.
