- Which shipyard has built the most operating LNG ships?
- Hanwha Ocean, with 211 of the 822 operating vessels in the tracker, totalling 35,854,200 m³ of operating capacity. Vessels whose yard the tracker does not name are not attributed to anyone.
- Does this count LNG carriers only?
- It counts every vessel type the tracker holds for a yard — carriers, FSRUs and floating storage units — because all are yard output. The vessel directory filters by type if you need carriers alone.
- Why are ships under construction in a separate column?
- Because a ship on order is a commitment, not fleet in service, and this site never adds capacity or counts across statuses. The under-construction column shows each yard’s current order book; it does not change the ranking.
- Why do so few yards appear?
- Building an LNG carrier needs a cargo containment licence and specialist skills, so the work is concentrated in a small group of yards, mostly in South Korea, China and Japan. See who builds LNG ships for why.
